Lourens Vlaanderen

Lourens joined Technology Management in January 2014 as a part of our Graduate Training Scheme programme.

This is what Lourens had to say when he first joined.

Q: Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you found Technology Management?

I completed my degree in Computer Networking at the University of Wolverhampton in 2013.

I was contacted by a recruitment agency and they put me forward to Technology Management.

"Out of all the places I’ve worked previously, this is the best place that I have worked for..."Lourens, NAV Developer

When I was first contacted by Technology Management, I had no idea that Microsoft Dynamics or Dynamics NAV existed.

It was all very new to me. That said, Tecman organised a training programme for me. The first time I went away for 2 weeks residential training. After that I went for a week every month for the next four months at the training facility in Yarnfield Park.

Q: How have you found Technology Management since you joined?

I'm still in my first year and I’m really enjoying it. I took the job because it was a challenge and something completely different, so that is actually what interested me. I enjoy it here and the people I work with, the place and the work itself is interesting. From initially knowing nothing, I now have involvement in a little bit of everything in Dynamics NAV - but mainly development work purely for Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Q: Would you recommend the Graduate Training Scheme to fresh graduates thinking of applying? If so, what sort of advice would you give them?

It’s a great place to work, the people are great to work with and it’s really enjoyable – I am really enjoying working here.

Out of all the places I’ve worked previously, this is the best place that I have worked for. The flexibility and the atmosphere is great here.

Where is he now - 2 years on?

Q: How have you found it at Technology Management since you joined?

I first started with Technology Management in January 2014 and since then I have been training up on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. As a trainee Dynamics NAV Developer, my role is different to that of the consultants. Firstly I embarked on the residential training programme to get me up to speed – then progressed through in house training and finally taking the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Developers Exam.

I have more recently been involved in working on developing upgrades for our customers through the Microsoft Dynamics NAV TAP (Technology Adoption Program) and client focussed development.

Q: Would you still recommend the Graduate Training Scheme to graduates thinking of applying?

Yes, definitely. If you enjoy being challenged and want to progress, then I would always recommend this training scheme as a great way to enter the field of Dynamics NAV. I’ve never had any issues at Technology Management, I have been supported every step of the way and it has been a well-structured journey.
