Microsoft Dynamics 365: The basics

In the Autumn of last year, Microsoft launched its newest addition to its line of Microsoft Dynamics business solutions – Dynamics 365.

But what is Dynamics 365 and how does it compare to the Microsoft products of Dynamics NAV and Dynamics CRM that we already know and love – and are used by hundreds of thousands of companies across the globe?

And more specifically, how does it compare for small to medium sized businesses – our area of expertise and the sector in which most of our customers operate.

Dynamics 365

Microsoft Dynamics 365: Key facts

First of all, a few key facts for anyone considering Dynamics 365:

A better way to connect your business

Dynamics 365 combines the functionality of its ERP solutions (Dynamics NAV1) and its CRM solution (Dynamics CRM) with Office 3653 – to give you a plug and play business solution. Imagine being able to go from “quote to cash” without leaving your inbox. Or being able to create customers, suppliers and quotes as well as process orders and submit invoices without switching applications.

All of which makes it easy for everyone in your organisation to execute ERP transactions in a more familiar and productive manner. As a result, all your business activities are quickly and easily recorded, so you have up-to-minute visibility of all business operations.

Start with you what you need and grow easily

Dynamics 365 is deployed in the cloud meaning you can take advantage of the reliability, security and scalability of the Microsoft cloud. This is particularly useful for fast-growing companies who want to start small and add function/users as they expand and don’t want the overhead of managing their own on premise solution.

Flexible pricing to suit all types of users and all types of businesses

Dynamics 365’s pricing also reflects its scalability with pricing by individual application area or “plans” for people who need to access multiple apps. There are also full user licences (for those whose work requires them to use much of the functionality in the applications) and light user licences (for those who mainly just consume information and complete small tasks in the apps).

Delivered in UK Data Centres

With Microsoft UK data centres in London and Cardiff, Dynamics 365 (and Office 365) is delivered with the world-class reliability and performance of the Microsoft cloud combined with the data residency that is so important to many organisations.

Microsoft’s $15bn+ investment in its cloud infrastructure delivers the service our customers depend on whilst the UK locations means that demonstrating regulatory and legal compliance is simpler.

Keeping up-to-date is simpler than ever

Dynamics 365 brings to an end the need for expensive, time consuming annual (or even longer!) business software upgrade projects. As its delivered in the cloud, there are constant updates of small, incremental improvements/additions to its capabilities.

New improved ways of working without any interruptions to your working day.
