The Rise of AI Agents – Are you, and your Dynamics partner, ready?
Reading time: 3 - 5 minutes
The next chapter for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
AI in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central has moved beyond the buzz – and we’re exploring what that really means in practice. In the latest episode of Tecman Talks Dynamics, we dive into the biggest shift we’ve seen in the product to date: the rise of AI agents.
Fresh from Directions EMEA (one of the biggest events in the Dynamics 365 partner community’s calendar), we’re sharing what we learnt, what’s coming next and how we’re preparing for the changes ahead. Because this isn’t just about the future of Business Central. It’s about how we, as a partner, evolve to help our customers get more from their systems.
Business Central is growing – fast
With over 50,000 active customers now using Business Central globally (up from 45,000 last year), the product’s growth shows no signs of slowing. And with that growth comes a wave of innovation, particularly in the world of AI.
Directions EMEA gave us a front-row seat to the latest developments – and a glimpse into where the product is heading next. There’s a clear shift happening. AI is no longer a future concept. It’s here, it’s evolving fast and it’s already making an impact. But what does that mean for the businesses using Business Central every day?
The rise of agents and why it matters
We’ve all heard the term “agent” by now. But what does it really mean in the context of Business Central?
Put simply, AI agents are the next step beyond Copilot. While Copilot helps users complete tasks, agents are designed to be able to take on entire processes – automating repetitive work and freeing up time for teams to focus on higher-value activities. Think sales order processing, accounts payable and expense management (coming soon!), all handled by an agent that learns, adapts and improves over time.
And the uptake is already happening. Microsoft’s “playground” environment is giving users the chance to build and test their own agents using natural language – no coding required. It’s a powerful shift, and one that’s only going to accelerate as we head into 2026.
Agents as team members
If you truly want to get the most out of AI agents, you need to treat them like new employees. They need training, supervision and structure. You wouldn’t let a new team member loose without guidance – and the same goes for AI. Because this isn’t just about the tech. It’s about how we manage it, how we train it and how we make sure it delivers the right results.
We’re exploring exactly what that means and the steps businesses need to take to get the most value from agents and where human oversight will still be essential. Because while the productivity gains are huge, the risks of unchecked automation are real. It’s all about balance.
From builders to architects – how Tecman is evolving
As AI capabilities continue to evolve, our role as a Dynamics partner is changing too. We’re moving from builders to architects – stepping back to design smarter, more scalable solutions that put your business goals first. We discuss how we’re already putting AI to work behind the scenes. From streamlining development to improving documentation, we’re using these tools to deliver faster, more tailored outcomes. And we’re doing it all with one goal in mind: helping our customers work smarter, faster and more efficiently.
Learning to trust the tech
Trust is a big theme in this episode. Because while AI can do a lot, it’s not infallible. Like any new team member, it needs time to learn – and we need to understand its capabilities and limitations. Knowing how to manage your agents, and any AI, in a way that’s safe, reliable and aligned with your business goals is vital. And that’s where we come in – helping our customers navigate this new landscape with confidence.
Is your business ready for what’s next?
As we look ahead to 2026, it’s clear that the businesses that embrace this shift early will be the ones who benefit most. The pace of change over the past 12 months has been rapid – and it’s only just getting started.
If you’re wondering how to prepare, how to get started or how to make AI work for your business, this episode is packed with insights, examples and honest reflections from the front line. Because at Tecman, we’re not just talking about the future – we’re building it, together with our customers. Listen here to move your business beyond the hype of AI.
If you’ve previously parked a project because the cost outweighed the benefit, it might be time to take another look.
