Why multi-company group roll outs are no longer a headache in Business Central

Why multi-company group roll outs are no longer a headache in Business Central

Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes

In the latest episode of Tecman Talks Dynamics James and Liz discuss the dreaded multi-company! Previously this would have struck fear into partners (and users) when implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central but in the new modern SaaS world, it’s a breeze.

In older versions of Business Central, or its predecessor Dynamics NAV, it was very difficult to duplicate processes across multiple companies, and even harder internationally. Localisations often come with multiple legislative requirements and the need to collaborate with other partners – which comes with its own language and time zone difficulties too. Not only that but the process was long (sometimes decades!!!), leading to big implementation bills for the client.

Microsoft have embraced the world of SaaS and (according to James) made multi-company very easy and much smoother for partners to roll out. Plus with in-built automated testing and cloud version updates, you can be sure that when you’re up and running it’s simple to maintain and keep up to date with the latest functionality. It’s also easy to report across a number of tenants. They have even made licencing across multiple companies more cost-effective with the capability to mix and match Business Central Essential and Premium licences.

All this has quashed the historic perceptions that Business Central just isn’t set up for multi-company implementations and that Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (aka F&O) was the only software option for these types of projects.

Listen to this short but informative episode here. It’s a good one to listen to if you are considering combining multiple companies in the future.
