What to look out for when choosing a new Microsoft Dynamics 365 Partner

Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes

In the latest episode of the Tecman Talks Dynamics podcast our team of Directors, James, Liz, Matt, and Liam discuss the all-important relationship with your Dynamics 365 partner, plus some important, and related, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central licencing and technical considerations

Before you put pen to paper and sign a new licence, partner, or support agreement, whether it’s for a new project or an existing Dynamics 365 Business Central system, it’s important to really get to grips with what you are signing (or indeed what your organisation may have already have signed). We all know that it can be time-consuming to find the perfect partner to work alongside your business. But, even with all the will in the world, relationships break down or simply don’t work out so they discuss what information you need to know, just in case the worst happens and you decide to “divorce” your partner (as James explains it really can be just like getting a divorce!).

They also discuss the slightly more technical aspects to look out for – what you need to understand about any bespoke customisations/developments you may have had done in the past and what to consider in the new cloud world, especially with more and more add-ons and integrations implemented as a core part of your Dynamics 365 Business Central (or Dynamics NAV) system.

Liam also covers some Microsoft changes to the subscription licencing model which have caught people out – the replacement of CSP licences with NCE (New Commerce Experience) and the end of some promotional pricing. The new NCE licence offers many different term lengths depending on how long you want (or need to be) to be tied in for; 1 month, 12 months, and a whopping 36 months! The end of some promotional pricing, plus what alternatives now exist, is also reviewed

Licensing, partner agreements, and bespoke development changes can be a minefield and, at times difficult to understand with so many options to weigh up, so our Directors do the hard work and detail the key aspects to look out for!
