In the event of a disaster...be prepared! Do not risk the future of your business

Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes

Imagine the sickening feeling if your organisation was locked out of your entire IT system, with all applications including Microsoft Dynamics NAV rendered unworkable and no ability to see who owes you money.

It may not be at the height of the public's interest at the moment but ransomware is just as dangerous as it has ever been. It's a nightmare scenario, where your business data is encrypted by criminals before they typically demand a six-figure sum to release it (and you can’t guarantee they will cough up the data even after being paid!).

The vital importance of having a disaster recovery plan in this scenario to redeploy your company's IT infrastructure and restore your data as quickly as possible, cannot be overstated enough.

No company is exempt from being targeted by hackers. They don’t care about you or your business, all they care about it is the money. If you don’t have one, now is the time to create a disaster recovery plan before it is too late!

What is a disaster recovery plan?

A disaster recovery plan is a documented process or set of procedures that are put in place to protect and recover a company’s IT infrastructure and data in the event of a physical, technical or fraudulent disaster. Your entire organisation needs to understand exactly the actions that must take place before, during and after disaster strikes. Read more into creating an IT Disaster Recovery Plan.

Don’t fall victim to a ransomware attack

In the case of a ransomware attack prevention is better than having a cure. It is worth taking note that human error is one of the most common ways of being compromised with just one errand double-click on a suspicious email or hyperlink spelling disaster.

The more people within your business that are informed about ransomware the less likely you will have to carry out your disaster recovery plan!

Beat the criminals to the punch

Cyber criminals can strike at any time. In last week’s case, the business owner could do nothing as their production ground to a halt before their very eyes. Imagine the devastation of losing access to your data and business system? Only for your customers and suppliers to ring you up and ask what on earth is going on?

Do not let the nightmare unfold. If you have any queries about ransomware or creating a disaster recovery plan, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me, as our Technical team is here to support you.
