Power Apps Premium price increase 2027: what UK businesses need to know

Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes

Microsoft has announced a Power Apps Premium price increase from 1 January 2027, the first change to the list price in more than five years. For UK businesses using Power Apps to connect data, automate work and build intelligent applications, it is important to understand what the update could mean for future licensing costs.

The final Power Apps Premium UK price is not expected until December. For now, organisations using the standard plan should budget for an increase of around 10%, while remembering that the final GBP figure has not yet been confirmed.

When does the Power Apps Premium price increase take effect?

The change applies to new purchases, renewals and co-terminations where the subscription term begins on or after 1 January 2027. If you already have a subscription, your current price will remain in place until the end of its existing term. In other words, Microsoft will not change the price halfway through your agreement.

Only the two Power Apps Premium plans covered by Microsoft’s announcement are affected. Other Power Apps and Power Platform products will keep their current prices, and no capabilities or entitlements are being removed from Power Apps Premium.

Why is Microsoft increasing Power Apps Premium pricing?

Microsoft points to the investment made in Power Apps since its last price change, particularly across three areas:

·       AI, Copilot and agents: in-app AI can support tasks such as data entry, exploration, visualisation and summarisation, while organisations can bring Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents into business applications.

·       Data, security and resilience: Dataverse has gained additional storage, stronger security options, high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

·       Governance and application management: Managed Environments, built-in pipelines, source control integration and centralised monitoring give IT teams greater control as app estates grow.

So, Power Apps is no longer just a way to build a quick form or replace a spreadsheet. It can support business-critical applications with the security, governance and intelligence you need to scale with confidence.

How should UK businesses prepare for the Power Apps price change?

You do not need to make a rushed decision, but this is a useful prompt to review your plans before the new year:

1.     Check your renewal dates. Identify which subscriptions could move to the new price from January 2027.

2.     Review who needs Premium. Check that licences are assigned to the right people and remove any that are no longer needed.

3.     Forecast with care. For the standard plan, use an increase of around 10% as a working assumption until Microsoft publishes GBP pricing in December. Treat it as an estimate, not a confirmed quote.

4.     Focus on the value, not just the cost. Are your apps cutting manual work, improving data quality or helping people make faster decisions? If not, where could you get more from them?

We will share the confirmed UK pricing as soon as it is available in December. In the meantime, if you want to understand how the change could affect your licences or find more ways for Power Apps to remove bottlenecks and manual work, get in touch with your Customer Engagement Manager today.
