So long and farewell to the Power Apps per App SKU
Reading time: 1 - 2 minutes
Microsoft have done it again, another licencing shake up -this time impacting Power Platform, specifically Power Apps.
As of 2nd January 2026, the Power Apps Per App (per user, per month) NCE licence has been removed from sale.
Unlike previous changes, this one came with no advance notice, leaving partners and resellers scrambling to remove the SKU from their catalogues and websites.
While some outdated documentation still references the licence, it is no longer available for purchase. I would ask you to please bear with the community whilst content is updated across the coming days and weeks.
What does this licencing change mean for customers?
If you're currently using this SKU, you will need to transition at your next renewal anniversary to one of the following options:
- Power Apps Premium per user (NCE licence)
- Power Apps Per App Pay as You Go Meter (billed via Azure subscription and is based on per active user per app per month for a monthly fee)
The per app per user licence still exists, but now you are charged based on active users rather than licencing every user, regardless of actual usage. This change affects costs: the pay-as-you-go meter rate is higher, increasing from £3.99 in the retired SKU to approximately £7.50 per month ($10) under the PAYG meter option.
So you could argue, it’s a way of announcing a price increase!
