Technological change is here and it’s staring you right in the face.

It doesn’t matter what device you’re reading this on: phone, laptop or computer, the fact is that within ten years your device will be old hat and you’ll be inevitably forced to make a positive change.

Let’s take a building for example. The ‘world’s tallest building’ the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is 2,717 ft tall and since 2010 it has reigned supreme in the height stakes. Fast forward just ten years, and Saudi Arabia have spent an estimated $1.23bn on constructing the Jeddah Tower which will be 3,281 ft tall when it opens in 2020.

Nothing lasts forever, and you can bet your house that the Jeddah Tower’s height will be surpassed in the future. Modernisation and progressive thinking have now caught up with the UK’s Building Materials sector and there is undeniable growth in the popularity of the relatively novel offsite construction market.

How Dynamics Building Materials can support your offsite construction business

Offsite construction’s growth is now undeniable

According to the Office for National Statistics, productivity growth in UK construction averages just 0.4% per year. Primarily, because the sector is being hampered by nearly everything being bespoke.

John Fleming, founder and chairman of Tide Construction recently told the Financial Times: “The offsite model not only halves the build time but leads to an 80% reduction in waste, encourages a 95% recycling rate, and produces higher quality building because it’s ‘easier to impose strict controls on the factory floor than on a building site.”

As a result, the popularity of the sector is undeniably growing. We recently exhibited at UK Construction Week and offsite was impossible to ignore. There were more exhibitors in the Offsite Construction arena than any other event throughout the week. There were hundreds of new technologies that will enable us to build quicker, more efficiently and at a higher quality than ever before so it is certainly an exciting time to be a part of the Building Materials industry!
